About Glowie by Her

Glowie by Her makes salon-quality press-on nails you can do at home in under 10 minutes. Our nails are made with patented builder gel, six layers of real salon gel that's already cured, so there's no UV lamp, no dry time and no two-hour appointment. They last up to 3 weeks with glue, and with a little care you can wear them again.

How it started

Glowie started with a press-on set that fell off after an hour. Our founder, Chloe Zhu, picked up a pack of press-ons at the pharmacy during Sydney's lockdown, and they were thin, flimsy and gone within the hour. She thought: if someone made press-ons with real salon quality and designs you'd actually want, doing your nails could be faster and cheaper than the salon.

So she went and made them. Chloe contacted nearly 100 manufacturers and put her own savings into getting it right, landing on a builder gel construction that holds its shape and shine like a fresh salon set.

In her own words

"It started with a not-so-cute experience. The idea for Glowie came about during the Jun-Sep lockdown here in Sydney. I was at Priceline searching for some lockdown self-care products when I bumped across press-on nails and thought they were such a cool concept!


But...I tried them on and ...It was a terrible experience - The nails flopped off after 1 hour of applying them, and the quality was super thin and flimsy. This experience inspired me to improve press-on nails. If there was a way I could improve both the quality and design of press-ons, then the process of getting your nails done could be not only far quicker but much cheaper too!

 

 ...And this is our mission at Glowie:We want to create DIY beauty products for girls to GLOW whilst maintaining the same quality and trendy designs you'd get from any beauty salon."

Where it all began

Like all women, Chloe wanted to maintain her beauty regime but was stifled by the restrictions of COVID lockdowns. Her background as a fashion, lifestyle and beauty content creator became the stepping stone needed to understand exactly what people were looking for and how to achieve it. Over 160k followers across TikTok and Instagram are proof of her success in understanding the field. Not one to be held back, she set about researching with a vengeance and after much trial and error, created the ultimate in-home instant manicure.

The DIY miracle

While there were products available for DIY manicures, the standards did not meet the expectations. Chloe developed salon-grade press-on nails that considered the needs of everyone with varying designs, shapes, lengths and widths to suit the most slender and petite of hands right through to those with larger and more robust nail needs. This ensured there was no need for the end-user to trim, file or shape their stick-on nails as was the case with existing off-the-shelf products. As an inspired innovator, Chloe has successfully created an easy-to-use self-manicure product that is durable as well as on-trend, allowing everyone the opportunity to enjoy the miracle of the perfect DIY manicure.

A key consideration during the research phase was to provide nails that not only look realistic and stay in place but also make the entire process as quick and simple as possible. Ultimately, Chloe created a product that requires three simple steps to apply and three even easier steps to remove. Each nail palette conveniently comes with everything you need, including nails with differing bed sizes. There is no need to purchase additional items or tools. Chloe even incorporated a bundle and save option to help minimise costs while affording the opportunity to select differing lengths and designs to keep your look on fleek. Even though everything is included, there is also the option to purchase additional nail accessories to keep on living the DIY manicure dream.
